Along the way

Start out from Plas Glyn y Weddw, a Grade-II listed Victorian mansion and cultural centre. If you’re an art lover, be sure to browse the gallery before you set off – it’s packed with some of the finest contemporary artworks from across Wales.

Once you’re ready to get walking, you can either follow the path through the woodlands in Plas Glan y Weddw’s grounds, or walk down to the beachfront and follow the path around the shoreline. The woodland path is steep and requires a certain level of fitness, but both routes meet at the viewpoint at Trwyn Llanbedrog.  You won’t be alone up there on Mynydd Tir y Cwmwd – the spot is guarded by a striking sculpture known as the Iron Man, which stands constant watch over the sparkling waters of Cardigan Bay.

From here, the path snakes through Mynydd Tir-y-Cwmwd, an area of protected heathland rich in wildlife, before heading down steps to The Warren.  One of Abersoch’s two beaches, this long sandy sweep is lined with exclusive seafront properties.  Finally, walk along the beach into Abersoch itself, one of the most popular and fashionable seaside resorts on the Llyn Peninsula.

There are toilets and a lovely café serving up delicious homemade cakes and lunches at Plas Glan y Weddw, while Abersoch abounds with pubs and cafés.
