Pay and display car park at the bottom of Station road, next to the Lighthouse Pub. The Point charges for parking within the Pub. Further parking Pay & Display Car parks at the end of Gamfa Wen road behind the Community centre.
2.5 miles or 4 km
At the end of Station road go up onto the embankment. Take the path to the right which is clearly signed with Orange way markers ‘Point of Ayr Circular’. The path is straight, wide with a gravel surface to start. There are information panels, picnic benches and sculptures on the path.
After 0.6 of a mile the gravel ends and tarmac path starts with bird spotting opportunities at the RSPB bird hide, estuary views and industrial landmarks.
Leave the colliery and go through the A frame barrier, following the orange way markers turn right onto a grass track adjacent to the railway line until way markers are picked up at the road. Cross the roundabout and pass ‘Danger Point Centre’. The route back to the car park is along Station road.
